Raipur: On Wednesday, MLA RK Rai has been suspended by the Chhattisgarh Congress in connection with alleged anti-party activities but that did not prevent him from building offensive comments against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) took a decision suspend Rai at a meeting of its Coordination Committee.

AICC general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh B K Hariprasad said in a meeting, "With the unanimous decision of the members of Coordination Committee, Rai has been suspended from the party".

"I was told the action has been taken against me for making comments against Rahul Gandhi (in the past). I can't call a donkey a horse. If the party feels my observation is wrong then either it is blind or (is) acting like a blind person", MLA RK Rai alleged that the move was taken against him for his words against Rahul.
