Ayodhya, On Friday morning, there was 20 minutes visit of Rahul Gandhi to the Uttar Pradesh temple town. It was the first visit by a member of the Congress's first family since the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992.

Before meeting the Mahant or top priests of famous Hanuman Garhi temple, the vice president of congress offered prayers at temple and then he drove directly out of town to twin city Faizabad, where he will hold a roadshow.

Mahant Gyan Das, the temple's chief priest said, "Rahul came and sought our blessings...we told him we sadhus have no religion and no slant and that he is most welcome here”.

As per the political rivals and critics, it was the political visit as the Congress vice president attempts to lift his party's luck in UP, where elections will be held early next year.
