Govt asks banks to install additional 10 Lakh Point-of-Sale-Terminals

Keeping in mind the end goal to advance computerized exchanges the nation over, the government has requested that banks introduce 10 lakh extra point of sale (PoS) terminals inside four months.

Towards this end, banks have effectively put orders for 6 lakh PoS machines and another 4 lakh are probably going to be requested in the following few days, a finance ministry service proclamation said.

There are around 15 lakh PoS terminals as of now crosswise over various shippers to encourage card-based payments.

"As a part of the arrangement to extend the computerized payments biological system and encourage the move towards cashless exchanges, the administration has chosen that an extra one million new PoS terminals ought to be introduced by March 31," it said.
