P Chidambaram, the Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister, has filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat from Maharashtra yesterday.
They are among the six candidates in the fight for as many vacancies in the Upper House from the state. Former Union minister Praful Patel (NCP), BJP's Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Vikas Mahatme and Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut have also filed their papers.
Vidhan Bhawan official said, “Formal announcement on their election will be made on June 3, the last date of withdrawal of nominations”
Also,Former CM Prithviraj Chavan, former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, MPCC president Ashok Chavan and other party leaders, Chidambaram filed the papers at the Vidhan Bhawan..
However, former CM Narayan Rane also filed his proposal papers for a seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Criticising the state government for its failure on all accounts.
Rane said,“Khadse needed to resign immediately, as he was facing allegations every other day.”
