Mumbai: With only a few days left before campaigning ends in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address three key rallies on Tuesday to bolster support for MahaYuti candidates.
The Prime Minister’s schedule includes a rally in Chimur, Vidarbha at 1 p.m., followed by Solapur at 4:15 p.m., and concluding in Pune at 6:30 p.m. in western Maharashtra.
In western Maharashtra, where there are 70 Assembly constituencies, BJP and its allies are working to make gains in what has traditionally been a Congress and NCP stronghold. The BJP is counting on the Prime Minister’s presence to energize supporters and solidify its base.
Vidarbha is another crucial battleground, where 36 of the 76 contests are directly between the BJP and Congress in a region that includes 62 Assembly constituencies. The BJP has fielded 47 candidates in this region, with hopes that a strong performance here will significantly boost MahaYuti’s chances of returning to power.
The Prime Minister's recent visits to Wardha and Washim on September 20 and October 5 highlighted his focus on issues vital to Maharashtra, including agriculture, the textile industry, and support for the OBC community.
PM Modi Criticizes Congress's Legacy in Maharashtra
At a recent rally, PM Modi voiced criticism against Congress, stating that the people of Maharashtra have long been subject to Congress’s exploitation. He emphasized that Congress failed to address the needs of farmers, women, and children, particularly in Marathwada, impacting their lives significantly.
Expressing confidence in MahaYuti’s prospects in Maharashtra, PM Modi said, “Only when Maharashtra prospers can India truly develop! By supporting MahaYuti candidates, you’ll secure a brighter future for yourselves and your families.”
The Prime Minister added, “Today, everyone is chanting, ‘If there is MahaYuti, there is progress in Maharashtra.’ Wherever I go, I see people eager to create history in these elections, desiring a developed Maharashtra with a MahaYuti government.”
Economic and Social Initiatives for Maharashtra
The Prime Minister highlighted the Centre’s financial support for soybean farmers in Maharashtra, helping them cope with recent challenges. Additionally, he praised MahaYuti’s initiatives for women's empowerment, particularly the success of the "Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana," which has received widespread support across the state.
On national issues, PM Modi criticized Congress for maintaining Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir for decades, saying it fostered terrorism and separatism. “For 75 years, two constitutions coexisted in India, preventing full rights for Dalits in J&K and contributing to years of unrest,” he said.
PM Modi concluded by urging citizens to remain cautious about divisive tactics and hidden agendas, stating, “We must stand united. Hum Ek Rahenge To Safe Rahenge (If we stay united, we will stay safe).”
