WhatsApp services appear to be getting back on track. A report at around 2.30 pm IST indicates that services are being brought back in parts of the country

Messaging platform WhatsApp appears to be affliction from a major critical outage.

WhatsApp services in Europe, India, and Malaysia appear to have been badly smack and even parts of the US and Africa appears to have been critically affected.

Judging by Twitter traffic and information from sites like istheservicedown.com and a variety of news agencies the outage appears to have started in the Europe at around 8 am IST.

The downdetector.in outage map shows that the whole of Europe, large swathes of south India and parts of Asia including Malaysia and Indonesia are affected. Services also look as exaggerated in the US, Mexico, South America and parts of Africa, though not as bad as the rest of the world. Img

Service outages like this aren’t ineffective of and don't last very long, but if the service has indeed been affected since 8 am and appears to be spreading around the globe, the outage is expected to be more serious.
