Cyclone Nada: crosses 'karaikal coast', results in landfall near Nagapattinam

Chennai: On Friday, at 5:00 am Cyclone Nada crossed through Karikal coast of Pondy region and it has made a landfall in Nagapattinam. Rajesh Kumar, Cuddalore Collector said “We have identified and strengthened 41 cyclone relief shelters with adequate food material and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have already arrived.”

On Thursday, according to meteorological department Cyclone Nada will get weak in upcoming 12 hours and the fishermen were adviced not to go in sea.

S. Balachandran, cyclone warning center director said "The well-marked low pressure area, which was lying over the southeast bay yesterday intensified further and intensifies the cyclone storm. And today morning (Wednesday), at 8:30, lying at about 735 kilometer southeast of Puducherry or Southwest of Bay of Bengal," 

It is expected that cyclone will cross between Vedaranyam and Puducherry on 2nd December.
