SHAJAPUR: A police sub-inspector was killed after being hit by a train at a railway crossing in Kalapeepal area of Shajapur district on Sunday night.
The victim, Umesh Chouhan, 28, was trying to cross the tracks with his bike, when the Kolkata-Ahmedabad train hit him at around 9pm, Kalapeepal police said.
The railway gate was closed and the victim had squeezed through the gates to get across, they added. Chouhan, a resident of Khargone, was posted in Shajapur district since last 3 years. Police have recovered his body and sent it for a post-mortem.
