The film is all set to made on Malayalam poet and writer Kamala Surayya and on screen her character will be portrayed by Vidya Balan but she is no longer the part of project. She has quitted herself from the film just a week before the film begin to shoot.

The hurt director Kamal said, "Unprofessional and unethical. What else can I say about her backing out of the project after all preparations for the shooting had been done, without even citing a clear reason?".

Kamal added, "Vidya informed him of her decision abruptly via a text message a week before the shooting was supposed to begin at Ottappalam." He also said, "He is still not clear of the real reason behind her backing out. The director mentioned that he will go ahead with the Malayalam-English biopic as he has finalised on most of the remaining star cast and technicians." Kamal thinks, perhaps the controversial story of film is tough for Vidya to handle.
