President Pranab Mukherjee approved JS Khehar as next Chief Justice of India

President Pranab Mukjerjee approved JS khehar as the new Chief Justice of India. JS khehar will be the 44th Chief Justice of India superseding TS Thakur, after his resignation. JS Khehar will be having occupancy of seven month till 28th August 2017.

JS Khehar will be first Sikh hired at the highest position. Khehar will be heading over five judge constitution bench at the NJAC (National Judicial Appointment Commission).

JS Khehar completed his LLB and LLM from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He is senior to TS Thakur, Pranab Mukherjee approved him him for his seniority and his achievements as a High Court judge at Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh and later appointed as a Chief Justice of Karnataka. He had achieved gold medal for first position in University.
