2 people died, 21 hospitalised after consuming 'prasad' at temple

Jaipur:  Two people died and 21 others in Banswara district were taken ill after eating Parsad at a  temple in Madhya Pradesh. 30-year-old, Bahadur died while undergoing treatment, whereas 25-year-old, Asha died while she was on her way to the hospital.

According to the report, around 40-50 people of Danpur village in Banswara area had visited the temple in Sera village of the neighbouring state's Ratlam district of MP.

The Deputy Chief Medical and Health Officer Ramesh Chandra Sharma told the agency that after they ate 'dal baati', a local cuisine on Sunday, many complained of vomiting and diarrhoea. According to the report of PTI report, a total of 21 patients were being treated in different hospitals. Also, the Samples of the food have been sent for examination.

A case has been registered under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Danpur police station incharge Gajveer Singh told PTI that the bodies were handed over to the families after a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile,  in a similar case in Karnataka, a woman died after consuming the prasad served at the local temple, while nine others were admitted to the local hospital. The incident happened in Chikkaballapura district, about 100 km from Bengaluru.
