3 MLA's who rebelled against AAP and formed Punjab Ekta party merged with Congress, met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi

Chandigarh: Political turmoil has increased in several states of the country in the past few days. The Punjab Ekta Party MLAs were accompanied by AICC General Secretary and Punjab Affairs in-charge Harish Rawat.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira had set up a new regional political organisation- Punjabi Ekta Party in 2019 and resolved to give an alternative to the people of the state. Khaira, a former leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, resigned from aap's primary membership in January 2019 and formed his own party Punjabi Ekta Party. The other two MLAs Kamlu and Dhaula became MLA for the first time in the new party.

On the other hand, firebrand Khaira, who had once strongly criticised Amarinder Singh before AAP, had quit the Congress. He then joined AAP in December 2015. He won the Bholath assembly seat in 2017. Before he resigned, Khaira had said that joining AAP was a political mistake. He said, the Congress is the only viable platform to fight the hardcore and fascist BJP at the national level and the only option to save the state from the corrupt and anti-Punjab Badal family.
