New Delhi: The 50-year-old border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya has come under control today. A historic agreement has been signed between the two states. In the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, the CMs of both the states have agreed to an agreement. On Tuesday, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, MP Dilip Sekia and Meghalaya CM Conard Sangma met Home Minister Shah in the national capital during which an agreement was reached to resolve the boundary dispute. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah said that 70 per cent of the border between the two states has been cleared of dispute today. The CMs of both the states said that the further dispute will also be resolved through dialogue. He said that a lot of historical work has been done today. The Home Minister thanked the Chief Ministers of both the states and his team on behalf of PM Modi and the Government of India. Amit Shah said that the dream of a developed North East, which prime minister Narendra Modi has seen, will be realized soon. Shah said more than 4,800 weapons have been surrendered to the legal authority so far. Home Minister Shah said that PM Narendra Modi has continuously worked for the pride of the North East. Shah said he had spoken to the Prime Minister about the Not East Border. The first agreement was signed between the armed group in Tripura in 2019.
