President confers 'Best State' award to UP at third national water awards

At the third National Water Awards event held here on Tuesday, President Ram Nath Kovind awarded Uttar Pradesh the title of "Best State," followed by Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti awards the National Water Awards for outstanding efforts in the field of water management and the expansion of water campaigns to emphasise the importance of water.

Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) and Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar (Punjab) won the 'Best District' awards for the north zone; Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) and Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh) won the awards for the south zone; East Champaran (Bihar) and Godda (Jharkhand) won the award for the east zone; Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Vadodar

'Best Village Panchayat', 'Best Urban Local Body' (Vapi in Gujarat, Dapoli in Maharashtra, and Madurai in Tamil Nadu), 'Best Media House', 'Best NGO' category, and even 'Best Institution/RWA/religious organisation/campus' were among the categories. 'Best Water User Association' and 'Best Industry for CSR Activities' were two more direct user award categories.

The Best School category was won by Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kaveripattinam, Tamil Nadu, Amalorpavam Lourds Academy, Thiruvallur, Puducherry, and Amity International School, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
