JDU gets big shock, 6 MLA joins BJP in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: BJP's ally Jd(U) in Bihar has suffered a major setback in Arunachal Pradesh. 6 of its 7 MLAs joined the ruling BJP on Thursday. The only MLA from the People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) also joined the BJP. The developments took a day before the announcement of panchayat and municipal election results.

The six MLAs of JDU, who have joined the BJP, are named as Talam Taboh, Jikke Tako, Hyeong Mangfi, Dorji Wangdi Kharma, Dongu Syongju, Congong Taku. The name of the PPA MLA is Kardo Nyagure. The JD (U), led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, had contested 15 seats in the 2019 assembly elections and won 7 seats. It also emerged as the second-largest party in the state after the BJP. The BJP won 41 seats in the 2019 assembly elections.

After JDU and PPA MLAs joined the BJP, the saffron party has now got 48 MLAs in the 60-member Arunachal Assembly. JDU has 1 MLA and four MLAs from Congress and National People's Party (NPP).
