Gurugram: A 90-year-old priest was strangulated to death with a sharp weapon by unidentified assailants at a temple in Gurugram's Kadarpur area, adjoining the national capital, late on Tuesday night. Police, who rushed to the spot on Wednesday morning after getting information about the incident, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. The reason behind the murder is not yet known. According to police, when the locals arrived at the temple in the morning to offer prayers, they saw that the priest's throat was slit and the body was lying in blood. After receiving information about the incident from the locals, police and forensic team have reached the spot and are investigating the case. According to the villagers, the deceased, Govind Das, had been staying in the temple for the past 30-35 years and was bedridden for the past few years due to ill health. The incident has created panic among the locals. Neeraj Kumar, a villager, said that the area is becoming unsafe day by day and there is no fear of police among the criminals. The priest was killed in the temple and this has hurt and frightened all of us. We want strict action.
