FIR: 'Religion will not be a hindrance,' said wife now pressurizing to become Muslim

Chandigarh: A case of an attempt to convert Islamics from Chandigarh in Punjab has come to light. A 36-year-old Sikh man has filed a petition in the court against his Muslim wife and his in-laws accusing her and his son of forcibly converting me to Islam. In the petition, the victim has sought directions from the district court of Raslin Kaur to stop the forced conversion.

The court has issued notices to the accused in the case and asked them to respond by July 20, 2021. The petitioner says he has been a Sikh since birth and his wife has been a Muslim since birth. In the beginning, everything was right, but his in-laws and wife are pressurizing him to convert. According to the victim, she wanted to convert him ever since his wife gave birth in August 2012, but he did not let her do so. However, things have changed now. The wife's brother-in-law and her mother-in-law are interfering a lot in the personal life of the petitioner.

The Sikh man's lawyer Dikshit Arora has told the court that in 2008, a Sikh man was in charge of a store in Chandigarh and the Muslim girl worked as a salesgirl there. In the meantime, the two grew close and fell in love. It was then in November 2008 that the two got married in the Gurudwara. In the meantime, there was an opinion between the two that their religion would never come in the way of their lives. Now the Sikh husband has alleged that from the first day of marriage, the rest of the in-laws, including his wife, have been pressurizing him to convert.
