New Delhi: Lawyers of Jail Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain have filed an appeal in a Delhi court alleging that Tihar jail authorities are not giving food items to Satyendar Jain as per his religious beliefs. The appeal was made on Monday (November 21) before the Special Judge at Rouse Avenue Court. That is, now, AAP leader Jain, who is in jail on charges of corruption, needs massage as well as religious food inside the jail. The appeal filed in the court said that according to the religious beliefs of Satyendar Jain, he is unable to go to the temple, so he is on fast and he should be given cooked food, pulses, grains, and milk products, which are not available inside the jail. The AAP leader's lawyers have told the court that, 'Jain is facing physical weakness in jail. He suffered a serious spinal injury, for which he was treated at LNJP Hospital. Jain has lung infections, which are post-corona symptoms.' Satyendar Jain loses 28 kg of weight:- According to the appeal filed by Satyendar Jain, it has been said that for the last 12 days, the jail administration has stopped giving him essential food items, fruits, and vegetables, mixed seeds, dry fruits, and dates as per his religious beliefs. Due to this, he lost 2 kg last week. Jain's lawyers have said that his client has lost about 28 kg since his arrest. Which has had an impact on his health. Jain's lawyers said Jain has every right to lead a human life with dignity, but he is being treated unjustly by the jail authorities. In the court, Jain's lawyers have said that 'A prisoner does not fail to remain a human being even after the sentence. The applicant is currently an undertrial and thus cannot be allowed to starve. The application, based on Delhi Jail Rules 339 and 341, has sought that all prisoners are allowed to practice their religious beliefs and are given food accordingly.' However, this is not happening in the case of Satyendar Jain. Along with this, the rules also state that a prisoner is allowed to take proper diet as instructed by the medical authorities.
