AB de Villiers becomes 3rd overseas batsman to achieve this feat in IPL

The South African player AB de Villiers became the 10th batsman in IPL history to score 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League. He achieved the feat during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

De Villiers also became the 3rd overseas player after David Warner and Chris Gayle to have scored 4000 or more runs in the IPL. This is AB de Villiers’ 12th season in the IPL now and he has hit 4032 runs in 143 matches.

South African player has been an integral part of the RCB franchise for the better part of the last 8 years. De Villiers was in his elements against MI in the last match as he scored an unbeaten 70 runs off just 41 balls. However, he failed to get RCB off the line as MI won the match by 6 runs. But he got his 28th IPL half-century in the match.

Mr. 360 had started his IPL career in 2008 when he turned out for the Delhi Daredevils. After playing with the Daredevils for 3 years, de Villiers joined RCB in 2011.  He has been an important part of the team since then and has gone on to score 3361 runs for them. de Villiers had his best IPL season in 2016 when he scored 687 runs at an average of 52.84. De Villiers also has hit 3 centuries in his IPL career.
