Bhopal: Illegal liquor traders in Madhya Pradesh are no longer well-being. In fact, now there is a new provision for punishment-e-death penalty for those who feed people. The Cabinet today passed a proposal to bring illicit liquor under the category of a serious offense in the Shivraj Cabinet meeting. Under the information received, the resolution will be passed soon in the monsoon session of the Assembly.
Home Minister Narottam Mishra has made a statement after the Cabinet meeting held today. He said, "The Cabinet has given its approval to the proposal of Excise Act Policy, 2021 to curb illicit liquor in the state. Heritage liquor has been added to the new excise policy. The new policy provides for stringent punishment for selling illicit liquor and said that liquor that loses its life has been provided with life imprisonment and the death penalty if convicted. So far, there was a provision of 5 to 10 years imprisonment in such cases. The penalty amount has been increased from 10 lakh to 20 lakh.''
At the same time, he said, "In liquor that cripples a person by drinking, the minimum punishment which was 1 to 6 years has been increased from 10 to 14 years. Caught with illicit liquor will be punishable with a punishment of 6 to 10 years. With this, the new law makes more stringent provisions that will prevent the sale of illicit liquor.'' In addition, he said, "A provision has been made to arrest those who attacked those who came in the way of search and arrest of illicit liquor without a warrant.''
