Mohali Police announced the arrest of three youths, including an Agniveer, in connection with a vehicle snatching case. The suspects have been identified as Agniveer Ishmeet Singh, also known as Ishu, Prabhpreet Singh, also known as Prabh, and Balkaran Singh. They had rented a room in Mohali's Balongi area. During a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Kumar Garg revealed that the trio allegedly stole a car at gunpoint two days ago after booking a ride through an app. They used pepper spray on the driver's face to facilitate the theft. SSP Garg mentioned that Ishmeet, currently stationed in West Bengal, had taken leave two months ago to visit Punjab but did not return to his post after his one-month leave ended. All three accused are from Punjab's Fazilka district. Following the theft, a probe was initiated, leading to the suspects' arrest on Wednesday. The investigation revealed that the trio had been involved in several other vehicle snatching and theft incidents, often fleeing to Fazilka after committing the crimes. "Ishmeet Singh joined as an Agniveer in 2022. He came on leave two months ago but did not return to duty," said SSP Garg. The police also recovered a stolen scooter, a motorcycle, and a country-made pistol from the suspects.
