Akhilesh Yadav said on Operation Ganga – 'I would have praised the government if... '

Lucknow: Amidst the seventh phase of polling for Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has attacked the BJP. On the evacuation of Indians by the Indian government during the ongoing war in Russia-Ukraine, he said the campaign has been named 'Operation Ganga' due to the elections in Varanasi. Akhilesh Yadav further said that the central government does not know what international identity it claims. The central government has failed to rescue the Indian people from Ukraine. If they had rescued Indians directly from Ukraine, I would have admired it.

During the war, Ukraine has closed its airspace, due to which no aircraft can enter the airspace of Ukraine. Therefore, the Government of India is rescuing its citizens from the neighbouring countries of Ukraine such as Poland, Hungary, Romania. For this, the government has also sent its ministers to these countries. "So far, 76 flights under Operation Ganga have brought back more than 15,920 Indians. Out of these 76 flights, 13 have returned to India in the last 24 hours.''   Indian nationals are crossing the land border of Ukraine and reaching Romania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova. On February 26, the first flight from Bucharest carrying Indians stranded in the war-torn country reached India. Officials said around 2,500 Indians have been brought back from 13 flights in the last 24 hours.
