Ambedkar Jayanti: PM pays rich tributes to BR Ambedkar

New Delhi:  On the 131st anniversary of B R Ambedkar's birth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to Dr. BR Ambedkar , saying that it is a day to "reiterate our commitment to realising his dreams."

"On the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Jayanti, rich Tributes is paid  on his Jayanti. He has made indelible contributions to India's progress. This is a day to reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his dreams for our nation, "PM Modi sent out a tweet.

On the occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind also paid respect to B R Ambedkar, saying that as the architect of the Constitution, he set the foundation for modern India.

"On Ambedkar Jayanti, a humble tribute to Babasaheb! As the architect of the Constitution, Babasaheb built the foundations of modern India as a passionate advocate of social justice. Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer who battled against social discrimination and advocated women's and workers' rights. He was born on April 14, 1891. On December 6, 1956, he passed away.  Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 1990.
