Gangtok: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah arrived in Sikkim's capital Gangtok on Friday (October 10). Hundreds of people reached here to welcome Amit Shah on the roadside. Shah then reached Raj Bhavan in Gangtok and unveiled a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. State Governor Ganga Prasad was also present on the occasion. During this, the Home Minister said that the Narendra Modi government has decided to set up about 65,000 active PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Committees). He said that till now cooperatives have been run by the Joint Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, but the Ministry of Cooperation should be discussed to empower the farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and tribals of the country through cooperatives.
