Shimla: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will launch the party's election campaign in Himachal Pradesh next week. Priyanka Gandhi will start the campaign through a rally in Solan. She is camping in the hill state these days. AICC sources have confirmed that Priyanka will sound the poll bugle through a rally in Solan on October 10. The rally is likely to take place at Thodo Maidan, where PM Narendra Modi addressed a huge crowd in May 2019.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is engaged in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, due to which Priyanka is taking charge of the campaign. Senior leaders hope she will match PM Modi's popularity in the state. AICC secretary Raghubir Singh Bali said, "Himachal Pradesh is Priyanka Gandhi's second home. She comes here about every three months. Her presence will create enthusiasm and spirit among the workers and send a positive message to the entire state.''

Sources have said that Priyanka plans to address at least one big rally in each of the four parliamentary constituencies of Himachal. The rally in Solan will target assembly seats under the Shimla Lok Sabha constituency as well as areas in the Solan district. After the Solan rally, Priyanka will also hold similar rallies in district headquarters - Mandi, Hamirpur and Kangra.
