Amit Shah's first visit to Bengal as Home Minister today

Kolkata: Union Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah is on a tour of Bengal today. During this, Shah will address a seminar on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019. This is his first visit to Bengal after assuming the post of Home Minister. After the final list of NRC in Assam, the discussion about NRC is hot in the country. The seminar is being held at a time when 11 people have died due to perceived fear of NRC being implemented in West Bengal.

Therefore, the importance of the program is more. Hundreds of people have lined up outside government and municipal offices to collect their birth certificates and other documents in the city and other parts of the state, so that if the NRC is implemented in the state, their preparations are completed. Amit Shah has said many times that he will implement NRC across the country. At the same time, Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has vowed not to implement NRC in the state.

State BJP leaders say that the importance of Amit Shah's address in this seminar is more, as he can answer all the allegations of TMC and the misgivings generated by the party on NRC. A state BJP leader said that TMC deliberately tried to create panic in the state over NRC. Amit Shah Ji will make us aware of the clear picture of the issue and remove all fear and misunderstandings.
