Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has expelled Dadu Taye, the former President of Golaghat District Congress Committee, from the Indian National Congress party following a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. This decision was announced by APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah in a statement, citing immediate effect. Dadu Taye, known to be close to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, was recently spotted with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during the latter's visit to Golaghat district. This raised eyebrows within the Congress party. On February 14, the Congress party faced another setback as two more MLAs from Assam extended their support to the BJP-led Assam Government under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Basanta Das and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, both Congress MLAs, declared their support to the Assam Government and met the Chief Minister at his office in the Assam Legislative Assembly. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the support of these two Congress MLAs, along with two others who had previously extended their support. He expressed confidence that more opposition MLAs would join the government in the coming days. Sarma emphasized that Assam is witnessing a trend where MLAs from all parties are rallying behind the state government and the central government led by Prime Minister Modi. He highlighted the collaborative efforts between the state and central governments, referring to it as a "double-engine government," and expressed optimism about more leaders joining their ranks due to the positive reception of their work among the people. 10 Samajwadi MLAs and 3 Congress MLAs Might Join BJP - Sources Farmer Leaders Advocate for Immediate MSP Ordinance Amidst Ongoing Protests Tragic Mass Shooting Claims 12 Lives in Iran
