New Delhi: Today is the birth anniversary of former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj. He was born on this day in 1952 in Ambala Cantonment, Haryana. Sushma Swaraj was a brilliant politician as well as a strong speaker. She graduated in Sanskrit and Political Science from Sanatan Dharma College, Ambala. In 1970, she was awarded the best student honor in her college. Sushma Swaraj was also selected as the best cadet of NCC of SD College Cantonment for three consecutive years and the best speaker of the state for three years. After this, she got a law education from Punjab University, Chandigarh. She was also awarded the best speaker honor from Panjab University in 1973. In 1973, at the age of 21, Swaraj started working as an advocate in the Indian Supreme Court. On 13 July 1975, she married Swaraj Kaushal. Swaraj Kaushal was her colleague and fellow lawyer in the Supreme Court. Sushma Swaraj holds the record of becoming a cabinet minister at the age of 25. At the age of 27, she became the president of the BJP in Haryana. In 1990, Sushma was elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time and in 1996 to the 11th Lok Sabha for the first time. In the 13-day government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sushma was given the command of the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Along with this, Sushma also has the distinction of becoming the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Sushma Swaraj passed away on August 6, 2019, due to cardiac arrest.
