Arunachal Pradesh: Principal rapes 14-year-old student, arrested

A school principal allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl student at Raga in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kamle district The incident allegedly took place on December 12.

Infuriated locals at Raga have been holding protest rallies since the incident came to light. They have vandalised the school and demanded capital punishment for the accused – Principal of Green High School at Raga, Bini Tegi. The police have registered a case against the accused Principal under different sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The Court has sent the accused Principal to Judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Kamle district, Hengo Basar has assured the protestors that the accused, if found guilty by the Court, will be punished as per the law.  On the other hand, the Kamle district police administration has urged the protesters to maintain peace and co-operate in the investigations. Meanwhile, The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) condemned the incident and demanded the State Government to initiate measures to prevent crime against girl students.
