Arvind Kejriwal to embark Kerala on May 15

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister and national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, will visit Kerala on May 15, according to the party's spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj.

On May 15, Kejriwal will address at a public meeting organised by the political group 'Twenty20' in Kizhakkambalam. The visit of AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is noteworthy in light of reports that AAP and Twenty20 will run a combined candidate in the upcoming Thrikkakkara assembly byelection.

A spokesperson for the AAP said today at a news conference, "A very encouraging development in Kerala is that the Chief Minister of Delhi has been invited to attend the annual meeting of Twenty20, a highly progressive new kind of party in Kerala. Their invitation was graciously accepted by Arvind Kejriwal."

"The AAP has learned that this is a very progressive party (Twenty2020) that works at the grassroots of democracy and has won numerous awards for their efforts in panchayats. So, in the political landscape of Kerala, we hope that a party like Twenty20 and AAP can work together in some shape or form "he stated.

"Sabu Jacob, the leader of the Twenty2020 Party, had a large business and left it all to pursue his passion for social work. The AAP believes that these two parties can cooperate. It is unknown whether or if a coalition will form. However, there are common platforms that we work on, as well as mutual interests. The job profiles of the parties will be decided later "he stated.  This is Kejriwal's first trip to Kerala after winning the Delhi assembly elections for the second time in 2020.
