Due to personal reasons, Virdhawal Khade withdrew from national swimming camp

Asian Games bronze medal champion Virdhawal Khade on Tuesday withdrew from the two-month-long National Practice Camp citing personal reasons. Khade was to go to Dubai to camp with Srihari Natraj and Kushagra Rawat, he told PTI, "I have decided not to participate in the camp due to personal reasons."

Khade is posted as Tehsildar in Maharashtra. He was waiting for his employer to be discharged. SFI general secretary Monal Choksi had told PTI, "For now, it seems that he will not be able to participate in the camp until the approval is given." He had sought approval for this some time ago, but then it was refused. He is trying again. If it is not approved, he might not be able to participate in this special session.

The Srihari Natraj, Kushagra Rawat and coach AC Jayarajan flew to Dubai on Tuesday morning. Swimmer Sajan Prakash will also join them. He was later included in the list of swimmers participating in the camp. Prakash went to Phuket in February to practice swimming meets and has been staying there ever since. All (three) swimmers will have a corona test when they reach there and will have to stay separately for four days before going to the swimming pool. Simultaneously Choksi said, "Saajan Prakash will also reach there today. Before leaving everyone got corona test done, and after reaching there, they will be tested. After that, they will have to stay on segregation for four days. Also, all security arrangements have been made".
