Guwahati: A Rajya Sabha member on Tuesday urged PM Narendra Modi to stop corona tests in Assam for fully vaccinated persons, saying the move was just a "waste of resources" and "harassment of people" and could raise questions about the credibility of the vaccination program. The same Congress MP Ripun Bora also said that the state government is adopting a contradictory policy by conducting rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests necessary when fully vaccinated people come to Assam. Bora said the PM and the Union Health Ministry have been insisting that people taking the second dose of the anti-corona vaccine have almost completely protected themselves from the virus. But on the contrary, the State Government in Assam is adopting a contradictory policy in this regard, he said. The MP said that all those who have taken both doses of vaccine have to undergo rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests at all airports, railway stations on arrival in Assam which is "a waste of time, resources and workforce as well as harassment." In a letter to Modi, he said, "In view of this, I appeal to you to intervene in the matter and suggest to the Hon'ble CM of Assam to check such wastage by testing the persons who have taken both the doses of the vaccine."
