Assam: Leopard carcass recovered in Guwahati

The carcass of a six-month-old leopard recovered by Forest department officials on Friday at Maligaon area in Guwahati.

Officials reached to the spot after the Local residents informed the forest department after they spotted the carcass at Madhabdev Nagar in Maligaon. A team of forest department and police officials recovered the carcass and sent it for post-mortem examination.

A Forest Department official said that there are marks of injury on the carcass. A forest official said, “There are injury marks on the carcass. It seems the leopard was either killed by another animal or it died after falling from the hill." The cases related to the Leopard usually surfaces in the area. Earlier in November, a leopard created havoc in a girls' hostel in Guwahati. The incident happened in Milestone Girls Hostel in Hengerabari area of Guwahati, where a leopard was stuck under a sofa.
