Ayodhya to be developed as a `climate-smart city`, says UP govt

LUCKNOW: Ayodhya is being transformed into a "climate smart city," with a concentration on renewable energy. Within a few weeks, the Uttar Pradesh urban development government plans to start construction on a greenfield township with a Vedic theme.

On Tuesday night, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a group of ministers heard a presentation on immediate, short-term, and long-term action plans.

According to a government spokeswoman, a 1200-acre Greenfield township with a Vedic theme has been planned to suit the desire of those who want to live in a self-sustaining community. In this regard, a complete project report has been developed. Once the Ram temple is finished, the state government anticipates a major increase in visitor traffic.

The chief minister has requested that officials expedite the creation of the holy city so that it can be ready even before the Ram temple is built. A.K. Sharma, the Minister of Urban Development, has instructed officials to ensure that the Ayodhya township is powered by renewable energy in order to make it a "climate wise city."

In addition, the city of Lucknow's urban development department is intending to rehabilitate the Kukrail reserve forest and make it more appealing to tourists. During the presentation, the chief minister asked officials to secure housing for everybody, including the homeless, nomads, severely poor families, and marginalised groups, since it was one of the BJP's important manifesto themes.
