Hyderabad: Now the Telangana High Court has also stayed the program of former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi at Osmania University. The High Court has dismissed the writ petition filed by the students, seeking an order from the Vice-Chancellor for a face-to-face discussion between Rahul and the unemployed youth. The court also said that the complex cannot be used as a political platform. It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi, Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad seat of Kerala, was going to discuss with the students in the university on 7 May. The students had filed a petition in the court regarding the program at Tagore Auditorium. Political rhetoric had also started due to the Congress leader not getting permission to program in the university. During the hearing of the petition, the court said that this meeting is for educational activities, in the absence of evidence to prove that it cannot be said that the purpose of the proposed meeting is not political. The court further said, 'The university campus cannot be used as a political platform'. The court said that, 'Allowing political programs is a violation of resolution number 6 of the 1591h meeting of the executive council of the university.' According to the order of the court, 'Article 14 of the Constitution of India guarantees positive equality, not negative equality. Merely because the respondents have allowed other activities, this Court cannot allow the proposed meeting in contravention of the resolution of the Executive Council.
