New Delhi: The East Delhi Municipal Corporation is all set to adopt a stringent policy on parking to reduce congestion on roads and markets. The EDMC has already prepared to hire a private agency for this. Officials have reported in this regard. Officials said the EDMC has prepared a detailed policy in this regard. According to the report, officials of the civic body said that in order to decongest the main roads and markets falling in the corporation's area, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation has decided to appoint an agency to strictly implement the parking policy. A tender has been floated to hire an agency for design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance on public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The same EDMC has made a scheme to appoint an agency on the revenue sharing model under PPP mode. After the bidding process, the selected agency will share the revenue with the corporation on a monthly basis. The software will be developed by the contractor for proper monitoring of parking enforcement policy. Officials said that no funds are required from the EDMC to implement the project. He said that there are many congested areas under the jurisdiction of EDMC and it is challenging to reduce congestion on main roads and markets for ease of movement of persons.
