New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi has been accused of spraying chemicals in the Yamuna river ahead of the Chhath festival. The BJP has targeted the Delhi government, calling these chemicals poisonous. Meanwhile, a video of BJP MP Parvesh Verma engaging with Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials has also surfaced. In the video, MPs, and officials are getting angry about why chemicals are being poured into the river before Chhath when everyone knows that people bathe in the river during Chhath. After the video of the BJP MP went viral, there are questions about why he got entangled with the officer. Why did he tell the officer - 'Through the chemical on your head?' On the other hand, Parvesh Verma has said about this matter, ''Today, on visiting the Chhath Ghat of Yamuna, we found containers of poisonous chemicals there. This chemical will be put in the Yamuna. Asked the officer present there who would be responsible for the loss to the people?" the BJP MP said, adding, "I told him many times not to put chemicals in the Yamuna river. If the authorities don't listen to me in this matter, can't I get angry? If I have to talk like this for the good of the people of Delhi, then it is right, I have no problem with it.'' Ever since the Kejriwal government came to power, it has been making lofty claims about cleaning the Yamuna. However, even after 8 years of AAP being in power today, Yamuna pollution never seemed to have reduced. Every year Kejriwal promises that he will make the Yamuna so clean that, along with you, I will also take a dip, but every year people have to celebrate the Chhath festival in the frothy polluted Yamuna. However, to improve its image this year, the Delhi government has decided to use a chemical called silicon defoamer. Experts believe that this chemical will make the river even more contaminated than cleaned. Also, due to exposure to this chemical, people can also have some other problems including itching, and irritation in the eyes. Earlier, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari had also questioned the Delhi government. "The Delhi government is trying to hide its failure to clean the Yamuna by spraying toxic chemicals in the Yamuna river.'' Apart from this, he claimed that ''Visited the Kalindi Kunj area to take stock of the pollution of Yamuna. We were surprised to see that a very toxic chemical was being sprayed to hide the foam. Those who were spraying ran away immediately after seeing us. We have lodged a complaint.'' Why did CM Mamata ask for a loan of 10 thousand crores from RBI?
