Bihar Elections: BJP announces election committee, reins handed over to Ravi Shankar Prasad and Nityananda Rai

Patna: The BJP has announced the steering committee for assembly elections in the state. The party has appointed former Bihar BJP president Nityananda Rai as the chairman of the Election Steering Committee. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has been appointed the Chairman of the Election Campaign Committee. The election management committee has been entrusted to Mangal Pandey, while Dr Prem Kumar has been made the head of the Election Manifesto Committee.

In Bihar, the assembly elections are going to be announced within 10 to 15 days. Earlier, all parties have started preparations. Assembly elections are being held in 243 seats in the state in October and November. Looking at the BJP's election steering committee, it has taken full care of the caste equation. The party has tried to woo the castes by giving health minister Mangal Pandey the responsibility of the Election Management Committee.

The party has tried to meet OBC and Yadav voters by appointing Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityananda Rai as the chairman of the Bihar Assembly Election Steering Committee. Both the leaders have been former state presidents of the party. So both are fully acquainted with the social equation of Bihar and both have a long experience of working.  The party has tried to balance union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad by making him chairman of the election campaign committee.
