BJP backlash over Mamata's allegations

Kolkata: uring the Martyrs' Day rally, Mamata Banerjee alleged that the central agencies are threatening to contact her party leaders and elected representatives with the BJP, otherwise send them to jail in chit fund scams. She did not name any central agency. The BJP has now retaliated against her allegation. West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh challenged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday to name CBI officials who allegedly threatened Trinamool Congress leaders to join the saffron party.

"Today, she (Banerji) alleged that CBI officials were threatening to contact his party workers with the BJP, otherwise jailed in the chit fund scam," Ghosh told reporters here. I challenge her to name the officers who are threatening the leaders of his party. If she is unable to name an officer, she should avoid making baseless allegations.

Banerjee alleged that the BJP wants to repeat the "purchase of (bills) in Karnataka in Bengal and is offering two crore rupees cash and one petrol pump to each Trinamool Congress MLA. Reacting to this, Ghosh said that no Trinamool Congress MLA has such a high 'market value'. Even if they stand on the road, they will not take any interest in buying them. Even Banerjee does not have such a high 'market value'. In fact, the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are conducting separate investigations into the multi-crore ponzi scam in West Bengal.
