BJP should refrain from making aggressive statements against agI laws: Mayawati

New Delhi: Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should refrain from making aggressive statements against agriculture laws, said Mayawati, the president of the Bahujan Samaj Party. She said that some BJP leaders were vitiating the atmosphere with their aggressive talks on the matter of farm law repeal, and demanded that they be reined in to restore farmer faith.

Mayawati also requested that, in addition to the repeal of farm regulations, the government meet the other requests of the protesting farmers so that they can return to their homes. Apart from farmers' demands for the repeal of three agriculture laws, which have been agitating for over a year, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said in a Hindi tweet, "some other legitimate demands also need a timely solution so that they can return to their respective homes satisfied and engage in their works."

"At the same time, in order to instill trust among farmers in the declaration to repeal agricultural rules, BJP officials must rein in their language, which, despite the PM's speech, creates suspicion among the public and spoils the mood with their provocative words," she added. "Bills are made and repealed," Mayawati said, reacting to remarks by BJP MP from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj that the laws may be brought back if needed.
