Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati has advised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government through a tweet on the announcement of withdrawal of all the three agricultural laws. Mayawati welcomed the announcement of withdrawal of agricultural laws after a strong agitation in the country as "late in the day".
But Mayawati also termed it as a decision of electoral selfishness and compulsion and said that the intention of the BJP government at the Centre is also being doubted. Therefore, some more concrete decisions need to be taken in this regard. The BSP supremo further said that a law should be brought in to ensure minimum support price (MSP) of farmers' crops. It would be appropriate if the Central Government ensures the return of all the cases registered against the agitating farmers, except the most serious cases related to the country's pride.
Former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati said that in the past, the country has suffered a lot, especially the arrogance and dictatorial attitude of the Congress party's Indira Gandhi government, but now the country hopes that the situation does not recur in the country as before.
