BJP under criticism for declining to support a resolution in the TS Assembly

HYDERABAD: When the Telangana Legislative Assembly passed a resolution asking the Center to name the new Parliament building after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the BJP faced criticism for its members' absence.

On Wednesday, some Dalit activists protested in Hyderabad against the BJP for not taking a position on the motion in the Telangana Assembly.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is in power, has slammed the BJP because one of its members was present in the Assembly when the motion was moved and passed.

Third BJP legislator Raja Singh is presently incarcerated. The request to rename the new Parliament building after Ambedkar has been forwarded to the Union government, according to state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who made the announcement on Wednesday.

Sanjay claimed that he has conveyed the request to name the Central Vista after Ambedkar based on the justification offered by balladeer Gaddar.

In a meeting with MLAs D. Sreedhar Babu and Seethakka on Tuesday, Gaddar praised the Congress for ensuring that the Assembly passed a resolution. He also thanked CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka.

Gaddar claimed that Vikramarka was instrumental in persuading the chief minister to approve the resolution. He argued that comparable resolutions ought to be approved by all of the national Assemblies.
