JAMMU: BSF forces on Saturday morning stationed along the International Border (IB) in Jammu shot several rounds at a drone approaching from Pakistan, forcing it to flee, according to an official. A large search operation was reportedly initiated in the vicinity to verify the flying object did not drop any weapons or narcotics. "Early this morning, observant BSF personnel in the Arnia area noticed a blinking light (in the sky) and fired at it, compelling the Pakistani flying object to return. In the area, a coordinated search and rescue operation is underway "S.P. Sandhu, BSF Deputy Inspector General, Jammu Frontier. The Pakistani drone was noticed by border guards about 4.45 a.m., and they fired eight shots to bring it down, according to officials. The drone went back after floating in the air for a few minutes, officials said, adding that a search effort is underway in the R.S. Pura sector. This is the second such occurrence in the last seven days. On May 7, the BSF opened fire in the same region on a Pakistani drone that had invaded Indian territory. After the BSF discovered an underground cross-border tunnel in the Chak Faquira area of Samba district on May 4, drone activity from Pakistan has escalated.
