New Delhi: The Parliament's Budget Session will begin today with President Ram Nath Kovind's address to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the Central Hall. At 11 a.m. today, the President will address both Houses. Half an hour after the President's Address, the Lok Sabha will convene for business. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey 2021-22 in the Lok Sabha today, and she will introduce the Budget 2022 on February 1 at 11 a.m. On the first two days of the session – January 31 and February 1 – there will be no Zero Hour or Question Hour in both Houses of Parliament. "Members are advised that critical public problems highlighted during 'Zero Hour' will be addressed beginning February 2, 2022. Members may, however, table notices on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, between 10:00 a.m. and 18:00 a.m., either online through the e-portal or manually in the Parliamentary Notice Office, to raise matters of urgent public importance during 'Zero Hour' on Wednesday, February 2, 2022," according to a Lok Sabha Secretariat release. From February 2 through 11, the House will meet for five hours, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Members will be housed in the chambers of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, as well as their galleries (except press galleries). The statement also stated that during the first portion of the Budget session, there will be two key items of business: a discussion of the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address and a general discussion of the Budget.
