Speaker, Vice President discuss budget plans ahead of budget session

NEW DELHI: A day before Parliament's Budget session begins, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met with Vice President M Venkiah Naidu, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, on Sunday to discuss preparations.

The Vice President's Secretariat stated that they had a lengthy discussion about the upcoming session's preparations and expressed hope that all political parties will engage in constructive debates and contribute to a productive session.

The Budget Session will begin on January 31 and end on April 8, according to the programme. The first half will run until February 11th, with a break until March 12th, during which the Standing Committees will analyse Ministry/Department Grant Demands and compile Reports. There will be a total of 29 sittings, with 10 in the First Part and 19 in the Second.

The President will address both chambers at 11 a.m. on Monday, and the Lok Sabha will convene half an hour later, with the Finance Minister laying the 'Economic Survey 2021-22' on the table of the house.

The Finance Minister will present the Budget on Tuesday. The Lok Sabha will meet from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. from February 2 to February 11. Members will be housed in the Lok Sabha chamber and galleries (with the exception of the Press Gallery) and the Rajya Sabha chamber and galleries (except Press Gallery).
