New Delhi: The Union Budget for the year 2022-23 is going to be presented in the Lok Sabha today (February 1). As a result, budgets were reduced for many sectors including the sports sector. This time, it is expected that the government will increase the budget for the sports sector. In the budget for the year 2020-21, Rs 890.42 crore was sanctioned for the game. But according to the revised estimate, it was reduced by Rs 232.71 crore for 2021-22. In the year 2021-22, it was reduced to Rs 657.71 crore. The revised allocation for national sports federations was increased by Rs 35 crore in the budget estimate. According to this, it was increased to Rs 280 crore for the financial year 2021-22. The allocation to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has also been increased. SAI has sanctioned Rs 660.41 crore for 2021-22, while the allocation in the Budget Estimate for 2020-21 was Rs 500 crore. At the same time, the budget for the repair of SAI stadiums of the 2010 Commonwealth Games has been reduced from Rs 75 crore to Rs 30 crore.
