CHENNAI: BYD India Private Ltd, a pure play electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, debuted its top-of-the-line sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Atto 3, on Tuesday. The business is a fully owned subsidiary of BYD, a leading EV manufacturer in China. "With proven and innovative technology, we are moving in the right direction to create a stronger ecosystem that supports the adoption of electric vehicles in our nation. BYD-Atto 3's launch is a step in the direction of this goal. We'll never stop working to create a greener future "said Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of BYD India's Electric Passenger Vehicles. Sales of the new model, which includes seven airbags, a sturdy steel body structure, a safety-focused chassis design, as well as a number of other features, will begin in January 2023. Ketsu Zhang, Executive Director of BYD India, stated, "We hope to sell 15,000 units of BYD-Atto 3 in India over the next year and plan to set up a local manufacturing facility in due time. BYD has two plants in India, one for the production of automobiles and the other for the production of electrical goods, totaling roughly $200 million in investment. The business imports the components from China and assembles the autos there.
