Chhattisgarh Municipal Election : Congress-BJP lock horns, both have an edge over 30 wards

Raipur: The contest of corporation elections in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, is getting interesting. Out of the 70 wards here, Congress is leading on 30, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 30 and Janata Congress are leading in 2 and 8 wards. Counting of votes continues in Dohahar 2 till 30 minutes. The counting of votes in all the civic elections in Chhattisgarh is going on since Tuesday morning.

Ward-wise voters in a total of 10 municipal corporations and 38 municipalities have exercised their franchise. According to preliminary results of other fields, Congress and BJP are equal. Back-to-back votes of the candidates of Janata Congress and other political parties are also seen. Elections were held in 10 municipal corporations of the state, Raipur, Dhamtari, Durg, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Ambikapur, Chirmiri and Jagdalpur.

The election results of all the wards of Korba Municipality Council Deepka have been revealed. In this body of 21 wards, 9 wards have come to BJP's account, while 7 wards have been won by Congress. Independent candidates have won in 4 wards, while 1 ward has gone to BSP. The BJP has captured 8 seats of Mana Nagar Panchayat of Raipur with 15 seats, the remaining 5 are occupied by Congress and 2 seats by Independent candidates.
