4 arrested in mayor's murder, Chirag said- Nitish Kumar should control crimes

Patna: A FIR was registered against 11 known and other unidentified persons in the Katihar mayor Shivraj Paswan murder case by two unidentified assailants in Bihar. Four of them have been arrested. Bihar ADG (Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar said a special team has also been formed to arrest the other accused. According to sources, a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also reached the spot to solve the murder case. Meanwhile, the mayor's supporters are in mourning following the incident. Angry family members and supporters also protested against the incident.

Talking to the media about the incident, Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan said that whatever condemnation is made for the alleged murder of the mayor is low and such incidents are proof that criminals have been encouraged in Bihar. He said the Bihar CM should control the rising crime in the state and demanded immediate action in the alleged murder of the mayor.

Mayor Shivraj Paswan was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified criminals while he was returning home after completing his work on Thursday evening. Katihar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amar Kant Jha said the incident took place near the Santoshi Mandir Chowk area. Two unidentified criminals fired three bullets into his chest in the case. The mayor succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Katihar Medical College. The matter is under investigation.
