Raipur: Chhattisgarh Minister TS Singhdeo on Thursday said the Congress is fully alive in Gujarat and can win the upcoming assembly elections by defeating the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress has appointed TS Singhdeo and former Union Minister Milind Deora as observers of the Congress for the Gujarat elections to be held in December. TS Singhdeo and Milind Deora held meetings with senior party leaders in Gujarat to plan for the polls. Minister S Deo said that after reaching here, I realised that the reality of Gujarat is different from being presented to outsiders. People are angry. They are also living in fear. The people of Gujarat are now upset and want to change the Government. Talking to media persons, he said, "I have seen that the Congress is alive here and is in a position to win the elections. He also accused the BJP of selling liquor worth Rs 25,000 crore every year in Gujarat even after prohibition and this is not possible without the patronage of the BJP and its government.'' He asked why the Enforcement Directorate never raids the liquor and drug mafia in Gujarat. Gujarat Congress in-charge Raghu Sharma said the party has set a target of winning at least 125 of the 182 seats. We will prepare our manifesto only after consulting people through about 2,000 public meetings in the coming weeks. In addition to a common manifesto for the entire state, we will also announce a separate manifesto for each of the 182 assembly seats as the issues are different in every constituency. State Congress president Jagdish Thakor said the party will undertake yatras or protests across Gujarat in the coming days to highlight the failures of the BJP government like the recent deaths due to the sale of spurious liquor.
